Steamships SS Columbia and Ste. Claire transported generations of Detroiters to Boblo Island, one of America’s earliest amusement parks. In 1993, Boblo Island tragically shut down, and America’s oldest steamboats were left to ruin. Today, a band of scrappy dreamers are fighting to save these iconic vessels, which have emerged as symbols of Detroit’s resurgence.
